I've got a Treat...

Here is the final look of the sleeve I made for my new laptop.

Laptop Sleeve
Materials:

  1. Neoprene
  2. A pretty fabric
  3. Ruler
  4. Scissors
  5. Sewing Machine
  6. Velcro
Neoprene and Fabric
I didn't use the solid green fabric. I was going to use it for
the inside of the sleeve, but didn't or couldn't get too fancy.

Measure your laptop. Width first, mine was 14 inches and I added an extra inch to each side
for seam allowance. Now measure the length times 2 then add about 5 inches for the flap that
will overlap your sleeve. Once you have these measurements cut both your fabrics.

Start by sewing your materials together from the top (the flap area). Then sew your velcro
to the neoprene. Sew about 2 inches from the edge. This will be your flap area that
overlaps the "envelope" area of your sleeve.  Now you will sew together both materials,
the pretty printed fabric and the neoprene. Sew all along the edges. Sew completely
flat. Once you are done sewing both materials together, you can start sewing
the right and left sides inside out. Neoprene out and pretty print in.
Finish by adding the second velcro to the outside bottom envelope area, make sure
they will match together when closed. I marked mine with a pencil before sewing.

Busy Weekend!

This weekend was very busy!
Starting with Friday. We made it a mission to visit a
pumpkin patch and get a few pictures of my wild child.
My Little Brat
Friday night ended with a scream! Really, it did. We where out at Universal Studios
for the Halloween Horror Nights...definitely recommend it. Apparently I'm behind and not
into the Walking Death and Silent Hills type of show. I DISLIKE scary shows!

Saturday...
I was celebrating my 31st Birthday!!!
Birthday Cupcake
Being a fan of all Disney things, we visited
Goofy's Kitchen restaurant at the Disneyland resort.
I had so much fun! If you are ever in the area you MUST go!

I have a running list of gift ideas that I have mentioned
to my husband and one that I update almost everyday...
but one thing on the top of my list...
A gift to scratch off the list
AAAHHHHH!!! So happy! I've had an Apple Ibook for about
7 years, and I can hear it slowly dying. FYI, I'm an apple nerd.
This was long overdue! As soon as I got this, my mind
was a whirlwind with ideas to customize it. I was about
to purchase a cover for it at Target a $30 price tag
made me look away! So, I have a tutorial in
the works for a laptop cover.

DIY Costume

Costume Time

So, I'm a big procrastinator.
My son was having a Halloween event today at school, and if I wanted to participate, I really had to participate...meaning I had to dress-up and really take effort in a costume.
I was toying with the idea of dressing up as Disney's Esmeralda a few weeks ago but of course I started the costume Tuesday night, to be exact 9:00p.m.!

Disney's Esmeralda

These are some of the materials I used...
  1. Purple fabric for the skirt
  2. Turquoise fabric for the corset
  3. Neoprene fabric for the corset
  4. Gold ribbon for the corset
  5. Scrapbooking eyelets for the corset

The Corset...

Measure  the neoprene around your rib-cage area leaving a couple of inches short for the tie area. Measure from the bottom of your bust area to your belly button. Cut the neoprene according to your measurements. I then covered (sewed) the neoprene with a shiny turquoise fabric. I sewed the gold ribbon down the middle of my corset and two more ribbon strips along each side about 2" apart. To make the back tie area I used scrapbooking eyelets, I only added three on each side, wish I would have added another two, because the corset kept rolling up. Then I used purple ribbon to tie my "corset" . My ribbon was to thick so I had to cut it half hence the fraying.

Skirt
The Skirt...

Let me just clarify, I am not an expert in sewing. I recently started sewing. My apologies in advance for the lack of using the correct terminology or if my explanation is very vague.
I used about 2 yards of this fabric. Sewed a pocket for the elastic. I got lucky with the elastic, I didn't think I had any. My initial plan was to sew the waist pocket and insert ribbon so I can just tie in on the side. I didn't even sew a bottom hem. I was going for the "worn" look. ahahaha

Free Halloween Printable

Last minute halloween craft...

So here you have it,
just another craft I love!
Pringles Snack Stacks Halloween Treats!

I used the Pringles Snack Stacks. They usually come in a
pack of 8. These are perfect for a Trick or Treat giveaway
or a classroom treat. Hope you enjoy making these!

You will need the Pringles Snack Stacks, print the file
and cut each character, then paste over the Pringles label.
You can download the file here. You can also print on
sticker paper. I didn't feel like going out and buying
sticker paper so I used good-old glue stick.

Newbie!!

So, I have decided to blog...

Couldn't make up my mind...or better yet, I was afraid to commit.
I've been called the Martha Stewart of the family because I was
so crafty and clever ;) (okay, just crafty) but then,
they all discovered Pinterest as well...booo!

I'm so excited to be blogging and hope you will
enjoy and be inspired by my posts!

A BIG Thank You in advance!
